I was branching out. That's when the cannibalism started. Eating of the heart and the arm muscle. It was a way of making me feel that they were a part of me. At first it was just curiosity, and then it became compulsive.

Jeffrey Lionel Dahmer (/ˈdɑːmər/ dah-mer; May 21, 1960 — November 28, 1994), also known as the Milwaukee Cannibal or the Milwaukee Monster, was an American serial killer and sex offender. Dahmer's case stands as one of the most notorious in criminal history, as he committed gruesome acts of violence and necrophilia, earning him the chilling moniker "The Milwaukee Cannibal." Growing up in a seemingly ordinary household, Dahmer exhibited signs of disturbed behavior from an early age. His fascination with animals and a chilling lack of empathy hinted at the darkness that would later unfold. Despite his troubled adolescence and brushes with the law, Dahmer's monstrous deeds came to light in the 1990s.

Dahmer's modus operandi involved luring young men to his apartment under the guise of companionship or photoshoots. His victims, largely marginalized individuals, became prey to his sadistic desires. Dahmer engaged in acts of necrophilia, dismemberment, and cannibalism, preserving body parts as macabre trophies.

The horrifying truth emerged in 1991 when Dahmer's crimes were uncovered during a routine police investigation.[Additional information needed] Upon entering his apartment, authorities discovered a house of horrors, with evidence pointing to the gruesome murders of 17 young men. The scale and brutality of Dahmer's crimes horrified the world, prompting a profound reexamination of the intersection of mental illness, criminality, and societal neglect.

In 1992, Dahmer was convicted of his crimes and sentenced to 16 life terms in prison. However, his life was cut short when he was murdered by a fellow inmate in 1994.

Jeffrey Dahmer's case remains a haunting reminder of the capacity for evil that can exist within seemingly ordinary individuals. The legacy of his crimes continues to captivate public interest, sparking discussions about the nature of psychopathy, mental illness, and the profound societal impact of such atrocities.
