In 2003, following Lee's arrest, DNA evidence revealed that two different serial killers were operating independently in the Baton Rouge area during the same time. The two identified killers were:
- Derrick Todd Lee (1968 — 2016), killed at least 7 people between 1992 and 2003.
- Sean Vincent Gillis (born 1962), killed 8 people between 1994 and 2004 and is referred to as "The Other Baton Rouge Killer."
A third individual, Jeffery Lee Guillory, was also arrested a couple of years later and was suspected to be a serial killer as well.
