Donato claimed to have had a rough childhood where he was abused by his mother. As an adult, he had a history of mental illness and a few petty theft charges. Before his exposure as a serial killer, he had no history of violence. His killing spree was chaotic. He killed people over gambling debts, killed people in robberies, and killed sex workers. None of his victim's name have been made public. He finally killed two random women on trains, which were the crimes that got him arrested.
